About CalcBelt
CalcBelt is a set of free calculators for building and garden projects: concrete, gravel, mulch, topsoil, roofing, fencing, paint, drywall, tile, pavers, and the area and volume math behind all of them.
How the numbers are made
Every calculator uses published figures rather than rules of thumb wherever we can find them: bag yields from concrete makers' data sheets, paint coverage from product data sheets, drywall fastener and compound quantities from the gypsum industry, paver base depths from the paver industry's technical notes, and mulch and topsoil depths from university extension services. Each page lists its sources and the date we last checked them.
Where sources disagree, we pick a sensible default, say so, and let you change it. Cost estimates use typical US price ranges from current cost guides and retailers; your local prices will differ, so you can type your own.
Estimates, not engineering
The results are estimates for planning and buying materials. Structural work such as footings, retaining walls or roof framing must follow your local building code, and some jobs need a permit or a licensed professional. Always check quantities with your supplier before you order.
Privacy
The calculators run in your browser. What you type isn't sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.
