Your price

per sq ft

Typical US price $8 to $25 per sq ft (HomeGuide, HomeAdvisor, LawnLove, October 2026). Pavers and labor; HomeAdvisor prices the sand and gravel base separately. HomeGuide's patio guide gives brick and concrete the same range.

How it's calculated
  1. Patio: length × width = 400 sq ft
  2. 400 sq ft × $13.50 = $5,400

National averages from US cost guides, checked October 2026. Prices vary by region and job; get local quotes.

Estimates use manufacturer data sheets and industry guides (sources). Check local codes and your supplier's figures before you order.

How to use the paver patio cost calculator

  1. Pick concrete or brick pavers, or natural stone.
  2. Enter the patio's length and width, its diameter, or its area.
  3. Read the typical installed cost and the national range.
  4. Type a contractor's price per square foot to compare a quote.

How the patio cost is worked out

Patio area = length × width (or π × radius² for a round patio)
Cost = patio area × installed price per sq ft

Example: a 20 × 20 ft patio in concrete pavers.

  • Area: 20 × 20 = 400 sq ft
  • At a typical $13.50 per sq ft: $5,400, within $3,200 to $10,000
  • Labor alone: $1,600 to $6,000 at $4 to $15 per sq ft
  • In natural stone at $21.50: $8,600, within $6,000 to $14,000, with labor at $3,600 to $6,800

The installed price covers the pavers and the labor. HomeGuide’s paver guide counts the gravel base and bedding sand in it too, but HomeAdvisor prices the sand and gravel base separately, at about $1 per square foot, so check what a quote includes. Concrete and brick pavers share one price because HomeGuide’s patio guide gives them the same installed range. Labor is shown on its own: $4 to $15 per square foot for pavers (HomeGuide, HomeAdvisor, LawnLove) and $9 to $17 for stone (HomeGuide, LawnLove).

What moves the price

  • Material. HomeGuide puts concrete paver patios at $8 to $15 per square foot and brick at $10 to $17; natural stone costs the most.
  • Pattern. HomeAdvisor says a herringbone or other detailed layout raises the labor bill.
  • Harder materials. HomeAdvisor says labor for materials like bluestone can reach $25 per square foot.
  • Extras. Seat walls, steps, edging and fire pits are priced separately.
  • Where you live. Labor and delivery vary by region.
